Peter & Elaine Kinsella’s “fun” tapas bar has introduced a generation of Scouse foodies to the delights of Catalan cuisine over the past 15 years. “Sadly the Manchester branch was a victim of lockdown, but the original is still going strong”, along with its deli and Lunyalita offshoot in the Albert Dock.

“This Liverpool tapas institution continues to go from strength to strength”, with a “menu heavy on Spanish classics but with a Scouse twist”“you do feel you’re getting a genuine taste of Spain, with the fabulous paella and a great Spanish vermouth to kick things off”. It was launched in 2010 by Peter & Elaine Kinsella, who followed up with Lunyalita in the Albert Dock. Top Tip – “don’t miss the excellent Catalonian deli as well”.

Peter & Elaine Kinsella’s “fun” and “fabulous” Catalan bar and deli offers a “mix of authentic tapas done exceptionally well”. Since opening in 2010 they have expanded to bigger premises in Liverpool ONE and opened Lunyalita in the Albert Dock, but a branch in Manchester’s Deansgate was a victim of the 2020 lockdown.

Going from strength to strength after its 2017 move to bigger premises – in shopping mecca Liverpool ONE – Peter & Elaine Kinsella’s “authentic” Catalan tapas spot serves up “mouthwatering dishes full of flavours” (the “churros are a dream”). “An added joy is stopping to make purchases at the deli counter as you leave”. Also in the Albert Dock (Lunyalita) and with a branch in Manchester.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
