Breaking news

August 2020: the Dalston yakitori joint has closed, citing that "this global pandemic has proven a bit too much for our small shop".

“Yakitori heaven” (“everything is so yummy”) is to be found at this minimalist duo, specialising in Japanese skewers, which opened in Covent Garden in 2018 after a successful first venture in Dalston. The trade-off is “very simple Muji/utilitarian” decor “but who cares when the food’s this nice”. (Versatile Aussie chef Brett Redman is behind it, in partnership with Natalie Lee-Joe). It also has a karaoke room.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
