“Very fresh fish with crispy batter and great chips” is just what you want from a “good local chippy” – and just what you get at this Turkish-run outfit in Finchley, which has just celebrated its 21st anniversary. “We’ve been patrons since it first opened, and the service is attentive and friendly” – and certainly exceeds chippy norms in the restaurant, where there’s a range of mezze and other starters, the option of charcoal-grilled fish, and even tablecloths.

“Fish ’n’ chips as it’s meant to be”“non-greasy, tasty and in good portions” – makes this twenty-year-old chippy a “great local” for Finchley. It’s Turkish-run, which gives the option to “try fish from the charcoal grill”. There’s still the odd glitchy report, but one regular said in the last survey that “after an off-patch recently, it’s back on form”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
