It seems that after closing all but one of his Union Jacks restaurants earlier this year, Jamie Oliver needs a holiday. And he’s decided to take another of his restaurant concepts with him.

From spring 2015, two Royal Caribbean cruise ships will feature onboard outposts of Jamie’s Italian, with the first opening on the ‘Quantum of the Seas’ in autumn this year, sailing from New York.

Taking a dive into the murky waters of cruise ships is an interesting (if not entirely shocking) step for Jamie, who has said he is ‘thrilled’ to be opening his first restaurant at sea.

He follows in the steps of Marco Pierre White, who has long had a number of dining rooms bobbing on the ocean’s wave.
