“Lovely, lovely, lovely... this English country pub” – from Brighton’s Gingerman group – “ticks every box: gorgeous garden with climbing frame for the kids, superb food, a fine wine list and great beer. Oh, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us, without being obsequious”. And more boxes: “sources local produce and wine as well”. “The perfect country pub”, agree its many fans: “can’t wait to go back”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Looks a bit of a dump from outside, but the food and service are as good as our last visit. The menu is a little bottle different and everything looks and tastes wonderful. Friendly service with a smile just adds to the enjoyment "
