“Creative and delicious” – this pleasing Lanes spot, say fans, “takes Indian food to new heights”. One or two reporters this year, though, craved more spice here.

“Fresh-tasting and unusual Indian food is served by welcoming staff” at this Lanes subcontinental which has a sizeable and dedicated local following. “It can confuse visitors as it’s not your standard curry house” (“I’ve seen groups come in, look at the menu and leave, which is a shame as they are missing a wonderful experience”).

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
