Harden's survey result
Summary
“What an experience! Lobster and chips from a cardboard plate, sitting on a wall in the open air” – overlooking the Talisker distillery, Paul McGlynn’s shed was an extension of his oyster-farming business, opening as a full ‘seafood kitchen’ nine years ago. It’s “takeaway only, though they provide barrels for you to stand around and enjoy the fish”. “We had a couple of oysters each, four large scallops each with chips and shared a whole lobster, with change from £50”. Top Tip – BYOB.
Summary
“A truly fantastic place perched on the hill above Talisker distillery” and comprising both kitchen and shop; its “fresh (self-service) seafood at silly reasonable prices” can be consumed around a barrel or – as many do – used for an impromptu picnic in the car park; a visit tends to leave reporters feeling zen… “a lick of Highland drizzle only completed the experience”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Oyster Shed Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Good takeaway seafood.Langoustines and scallop rolls were very good. Fresh oysters opened in front of you. Service is slow. Parking is a challenge, there is a small outdoor seating area but that was full."
