“A great place for warm summer evenings” – Phill and Deb Lewis’s sustainably focused outdoors venue (sibling to Nook) is built around Sophia Gardens’ old Warden’s House and offers a menu of well-prepared dishes cooked over fire, complete with natural wines and blankets to keep the cold at bay. It’s rated on limited but highly enthusiastic feedback.

Summary

In a former warden’s bungalow on the edge of Sophia Gardens, this kickstarter-funded small- plates restaurant was originally to open in 2019 and finally did so in September 2021. Sustainability has been the watchword of the project throughout, with many of the materials used for the build being reclaimed. Chef Tom Powell is ex-The Walnut Tree, and will use produce from the on-site kitchen garden and greenhouse, as well as local farms. All dishes are cooked over fire, with seating entirely outside under pergolas… so layer up!
