Harden's survey result
Summary
“In the Caledonian Hotel (Waldorf Astoria)” for the past couple of years, in a space previously occupied by the Galvin brothers, Mark Greenaway's hyped modern English and Scottish venture may be a little ill-named (it's less about sharing plates than heftier options) but receives feedback that’s notably sound, including for the “fab” puds and “well-presented” Sunday lunch.
Summary
“The much fanfared Mark Greenaway replacement for the Galvins’ casual dining venue at the Caledonian Hotel” opened in April 2019, occupying a plush, contemporary space. “We’re not sure where the ‘Grazing’ comes from, except in the name”, as the focus here is not on small plates but more conventionally-sized ones. Opening late in the day for the survey, such feedback as we have is downbeat, particularly on the eclectic and bold modern cuisine, but press reviewers in both the Scottish and national broadsheets have generally raved.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
