Top Menu Tip – “crispy lamb belly and sausage on mustard lentils”.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Palmerston Restaurant Diner Reviews

"Food as fabulous as ever. Epic bread and butter and a recent dinner included a typically delicious robust beetroot dish with red wine salsify, pecorino, walnuts and bitter leaves; creamily tasty salt cod brandade with crostini, fennal salad and olives; braised kid crepinette with mash, hispi cabbage and onions and splendid baked pollock with salsify, violet artichokes, clams and creme fraiche. Slight reduced mark for service as not sure how else to highlight that they are falling among natural wines and choose not to highlight / warn you about these on the list, meaning we had to drink a bottle of something entirely indifferent with an excellent dinner. I am with Jay Rayner on this. Too many natural wines are poor, dull or just nasty and however virtuous it may seem to sell them, I do not want them with great food that someone has cooked and brought to me. "

"We had a superb and interesting meal seated at the counter. On top of the interesting and delicious food (and wine at a very reasonable price) we had the benefit of interesting fellow diners at the counter. "
