Summary
The pop-up African supper club from chef Tunde Abifarin has found a permanent home in the city’s New Town in May 2022 – too late to generate feedback in our annual diners’ poll – taking a residency at the cafe Tani Modi on Friday and Saturday nights. In practice, the menu is quite a mash-up, and not as unfamiliar as you might expect with olives, confit garlic hummus and burgers (oxtail or plantain) served alongside goat haggis and more intriguing creations such as poached cod with yam brandade, mussels and okra.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
