Harden's says

This Leith restaurant from chefs Tomas Gormley and Sam Yorke was born from the lockdown pop-up success Bad Seeds. Views over the Water of Leith make it a lovely spot.

Born during lockdown, and helmed by twenty-something chef-owners Tomas Gormley and Sam Yorke, this “lovely neighbourhood restaurant” with views of Leith Waters is – according to its biggest supporters – “so new and yet so 5/5”. Expect “brilliant” modern Scottish dining (tasting menu or à la carte) paired with “amazing local cocktails”. “More!”

This “smart little place with elegant food and bespoke cocktails” overlooking the Water of Leith is a year-old continuation of a lockdown project from two twentysomething chefs, Tomas Gormley (ex-Andrew Fairlie) and Sam Yorke (ex-Dominic Jack’s Castle Terrace). Their “lovely food” “lives up to (high) expectations”“the whipped miso/crab butter which comes with the bread sets the tone”. Top Menu Tip – “excellent venison and guinea fowl mains are high spots”.

Summary

This ambitious and promising-looking Leith restaurant is the work of chefs Tomas Gormley and Sam Yorke and was born from a lockdown pop-up success called Bad Seeds. It offers field-to-table fine-dining with a regularly changing menu showcasing Scottish produce, and its position near the water adds to its appeal.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"clean. fresh delicious food in a casual, and bright setting. Great location. if I were to seek faults, I would suggest that the portions are a bit on the small side. "
