This “tiny restaurant with an open kitchen” showcases some “really inventive, original and interesting cooking” from former Ledbury and Dairy chef Richard Falk. Top Tip – “defo worth taking advantage of lunches being the same quality as dinners and costing £32 for 3 courses instead of £57”.

This “tiny restaurant with big-flavoured food” was opened without much pizzazz in 2021 by former Ledbury and Dairy chef Richard Falk, and has attracted positive reviews from the Guardian’s Grace Dent and the Telegraph’s William Sitwell. It has yet to generate much feedback, but what there is, is uniformly positive.

“Just opened and likely to become the best Lewes has to offer” – this June 2021 newcomer opened too late for a huge volume of survey feedback (or a rating), but is already winning strong local support. It quickly experienced changes, though, with the departure of launch chef Richard Falk and the arrival of former Drakes at Ripley head chef, Andrew Wilson. The latter produces a traditional-with-a-twist two-course or three-course set menu at an affordable price.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
