It would be “difficult to find a more perfect setting” for a pub than this former watermill “nestling on the side of the River Dee, with decking overhanging the water and stunning views in all directions”“in the evening there are candlelit tables with views looking out from the mill building, some situated directly above the original water wheel”. “Part of the Brunning & Price chain, it offers well prepared and varied food on a daily changing menu” and “a large selection of wines to suit all pockets”.

“In a beautiful setting adjacent to the River Dee and with decking overhanging the river, this former watermill with wheel could not be better located with stunning views from all windows”. The “food is of a high standard”, but it is the backdrop of the racing water of the River Dee that creates a memorable experience at this Brunning & Price operation. “Get a table outside for an unforgettable meal”.

This “first-class” gastroboozer gains enormous credit from the “superb setting on decking right above the River Dee”, with stunning views both of the water below and of the steam trains of the Llangollen heritage railway on the opposite bank. The venue is professionally run by Brunning & Price, and “the food is varied and plentiful”.

“It is lovely to overlook the tumbling River Dee” and its water wheel while dining on the deck of this unusually attractive Brunning & Price gastroboozer; the food’s tolerable but not the main event.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
