Harden's survey result
Summary
“Huge queues are par for the course but worth it in spades”, when visiting this “sensational” basement – “a great, basic pit stop” on “a dodgy street near Euston station” where you “pack in tight” for the “amazing, fresh and feather-light rotis”, “excellent laksa” and other “stalwart Malaysian dishes”. “For a satisfying, cheap meal” many would say this is “the best value in town”. There’s also now a larger spin-off in the Battersea Power Station development – “it’s good, but the original is still the favourite”.
Summary
“Arrive early and expect to queue” at this “cramped basement” near Euston Station: an “absolute favourite” that’s “100% worth the wait” thanks to its “really authentic Malaysian food” – “divine rotis”, plus curries and noodle dishes that are “packed with flavour” and “so cheap”. The sleek environs of the new Battersea Power Station development seem like the antithesis of the original’s ethos, but a spin-off opened here in early 2022 in one of the railway arches adjacent to the old power station.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
