Hang with the hip crowd at this groovy Hackney Wick haunt – a canal-side warehouse (‘The White Building’) just across the water from the Olympic Park, with a big outside terrace. On the menu: affordable and yummy pizza, washed down with quality brews from the in-house microbrewery. Downside? At busy times it’s a bit of a zoo.

Just across the canal from the Olympic Park – and with a large waterside terrace – this warehouse microbrewery (nice brews!) in ‘The White Building’ has just the right mix of grunge and hipster vibe to inspire a trip to Hackney Wick. Decent pizza too… but be prepared for a wait at busy times.

Chilled microbrewery haunt across the canal from the Olympic Park (near Hackney Wick Station) whose waterside terrace is a big plus in summer. The pizza and brews are fair value, and it has a lovely, hip vibe… meaning, though, that it gets busy and service can at times be swamped.

In a “lovely spot” across the canal from the Olympic Park (near Hackney Wick station), and with a big waterside terrace, this “very buzzy” and achingly East End microbrewery serves brilliant pizza (“especially if you like them thin-based”) and “great own-brewed beers”. After a successful CrowdCube fundraiser, the first floor is about to become a venue in itself – and further boost its cutting edge cred – importing zero-waste eco-project Silo (see also) from Brighton.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
