Harden's survey result
Summary
Like Jay Rayner of The Observer, reporters in our annual diners’ poll remember this Clerkenwell site from its days as The Kolossi Grill (RIP), which for decades provided a good, post-work piss-up, but which has faded from view in recent years. In early 2023 it was relaunched (first under the old Kolossi flag, then changing its name to Attica). But our diners disagreed with Jay’s upbeat April 2023 assessment. He found Greek cuisine that’s “so much better than [revelatory]… the essentials done with due care and attention” making it “a venerable restaurant that has found a way to avoid decline and start afresh”. Our early reporters feel that “despite glowing press reviews we found the food between average to disappointing”… “a shadow of the former taverna experience”… “nice people, but not a great meal”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
