September 2021: A message on the website now reads -
We’re very sad to announce that our lovely LINO has closed permanently.
We know that will come as a shock. A truly difficult time for everyone in hospitality has been further compounded by a lack of workforce guests (our bread and butter in the city) and a landlord who is unable to support us through the recovery. We did everything we could to continue, but ultimately it just wasn’t possible.
Over the years, LINO has reminded us how many amazing people there are working in hospitality. From the first team members who helped forge LINO’s reputation for re-using, re-loving and re-imagining, to our current team who worked so positively and tirelessly in uncertain circumstances, we have so many people to thank for their incredible efforts.
We’ve also been blessed by the friendliest, most loyal guests, who have constantly made us laugh and gone out of their way to support us.
And our designers, Red Deer who created this truly beautiful and inspiring space – she was an absolute beauty.
So while it’s sad, we’ve got a lot to be grateful for - and we’re staying positive. As a business, we’re down but definitely not out. We still operate three wonderful sites - Marsha, Green Room, and Whyte & Brown - and have a few more brewing in the pipeline.
Marsha, Green Room and Whyte & Brown operate independently and are not impacted by the Administration.
June 2021: the restaurant has been placed into administration along with Kitty Hawk – couldn't reach an agreement with the landlords. We haven't yet marked it as closed, but that's evidently a possibility.
Harden's says
A former linoleum factory near St Bart's has been turned into a restaurant by the team behind Kitty Hawk; former head chef at The Dairy, Richard Falk, is behind the stoves. Everything is made in house, from bread to spirits.
Harden's survey result
Summary
This spring-2019 arrival occupies a “post-industrial space” – part of a converted linoleum factory near Barts – where the focus is on the trendy, modern British food emanating from the open kitchen, prepared by ex-Dairy head chef, Richard Falk. It was “a great newcomer in a barren area”, but some mixed reports suggest it still has a way to go before it fully realises its potential (the “food is good without being outstanding…”, and the “cavernous space can make conversation difficult…”).
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
