“The view from the gallery over the city is great” at this sky-high brasserie, on the 36th floor of the ‘Walkie Talkie’. Reports this year were limited and rather uneven, so we’ve taken ratings down a peg. It won particular praise, though, as a glam breakfasting destination.

The 36th-floor brasserie at the top of the City’s Walkie-Talkie Tower may be the exception to the rule that restaurants with a “spectacular view” serve exorbitantly expensive menus of very ordinary grub. Yes, it’s “fairly pricey”, but consistent strong marks for food confirm reports that a meal here is “surprisingly good”.

“The excitement of the view before and after the meal” is clearly the main draw to this all-day brasserie at the top of the City’s Walkie-Talkie Tower – so “the very good food and service” are “a pleasant surprise: I was expecting corporate fare”.

“Go for the spectacular views alone”, “especially at night with the city lights twinkling below”, from the “unique perspective” of this all-day brasserie at the top of the Walkie-Talkie tower. “The menu is limited and fairly expensive”, but – on most accounts – “the food is surprisingly good” for the location.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The restaurant does not trade too rapacious...

"The restaurant does not trade too rapaciously on the location and views from the top of the walkie talkie building and offers a pleasant if unambitious menu .The view is best appreciated from the sky garden that surrounds the restaurant so it is worth taking time before or after eating to explore that. A booking is the easiest way to get in as the free public tickets vanish very quickly when made available."
