Summary
“Amazing Creole food” including such delights as po’boys, gumbo and jambalaya liven up any meal at this Islington pub from Jacob Kenedy (of Bocca di Lupo) – a tribute to his Louisiana forebears. “If you’re looking for something fun, lively and different without having to compromise on the cooking, Plaquemine Lock is an awesome night out”. Top Tip – “great jazz at Sunday brunch”.
Summary
Perfect “when you want a quick po’boy or gumbo” – Jacob Kenedy (of Bocca di Lupo) pays tribute to his Louisiana ancestry, with this labour-of-love project: a colourfully decorated, converted boozer on the side of an Islington canal. Its “nice Cajun food” is well-rated: “still a little too much fried stuff for my liking, but the taste is good”.
Summary
This tribute to the cuisine of Louisiana in a converted Islington canal-side boozer is “fun and different” – and possibly “the best way to try Creole and Cajun food without having to brave Homeland Security”. Two years on from opening, though, it hasn’t fully lived up to the expectations raised by founder Jacob Kenedy, known for his brilliant Bocca di Lupo. “The best dishes are fabulous, but genuine Southern food seems to mean a lot is fried”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Plaquemine Lock Restaurant Diner Reviews
"I was looking forward to trying this place but the food was disappointing. Expensive for what it is and the food preparation is barely above standard pub grub. Pecan pie was very good but savory was below par. It's a shame because the ambience is nice and the place funky, as well as being well located."
