Harden's says
Launched in Islington in July 2022, a new gastropub venture from Rob Tecwyn and Adam Symonds, who worked together a decade ago at The Bull and Last.
Harden's survey result
Summary
This “buzzy pub” near the Regent’s canal in Islington has a “brilliant” culinary reputation since it relaunched two years ago. “They take great care to offer seasonal, fresh food cooked with real imagination and flair, but always reassuringly familiar” (“so good, I actually laughed!”). “Well-chosen wines”, a “superb Sunday lunch”, “no-frills good service” and a “dog-friendly approach, too” complete the deal.
Summary
“It’s probably unfair to call it pub food though it is food in a pub!” – Re-opened in 2022, this revamped Islington boozer has built a major following thanks to offering “an all-round five-star experience” that’s very superior for the gastropub genre. Staff who are “charming, friendly and fast” provide “simple”-sounding yet “fabulous” and “sustainably sourced” dishes (“the almond financier made me smile so much the chef came over to see what was entertaining me”). “The only downside is the slightly out-of-the-way location” that’s “hard to get to on public transport”.
For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

The Baring Restaurant Diner Reviews

"If you can, arrive at the restaurant having walked along Regent’s Park canal (possibly even stopping off at one of bars and pubs along the way). The room is bright with high ceilings and big windows and the atmosphere is relaxed. The charming staff are very helpful and the food delicious and full of quiet surprises. Superb Cantabrian anchovies with subtly smoked tomatoes zhoug on toast were followed by marvellous lamb belly. Peach Melba and cheese were helped on their way with a very acceptable glass of passito. Already planning the next trip."
