We have been meaning to make an announcement for quite some time to inform you that Turul Project in its current shape and form will no longer be calling Turnpike Lane home. Our plan was to throw a bit of a party, and invite you all to say goodbye properly. Unfortunately we have had to cancel these festivities due to occurrences over the last 2 weeks - we were robbed three times and pretty much all our wine stock was taken. Our options are now rather limited

It's not often a new Hungarian restaurant comes along, but we will see one in Turnpike Lane soon - the attached deli is already open. Chef Balazs Berta, who previously worked at Restaurant Story and Aquavit, aims to "make high-end Hungarian gastronomy accessible".

Summary
“The Best Hungarian in Turnpike Lane!” is to damn with faint praise this interesting May 2021 newcomer. Situated in a 1930s Art Deco building – part of the Grade II listed modernist tube station – this restaurant, wine bar and deli started out as a pop-up and series of supper clubs in 2018 by István Ruska, and aims to showcase Hungarian cuisine within a modern fine dining setting. Much of its appeal stems from a “superb” (we’d guess unrivalled) “all Hungarian selection” of white, red and dessert wines, as well as rosés and sparkling vintages, many of which have never been represented before in the UK.
