Summary
“Eating outside overlooking the square is extremely pleasant” at this “large brasserie”, which is particularly well-located in the new developments north of King’s Cross; and wins praise for its “great buzzy atmosphere”. But it suffers from the Ivy Collection’s habitual weakness of “disappointing and unimaginative food – all the classics not done that well”.
Summary
This “beautiful venue” near King’s Cross with “lovely outside tables” is part of Richard Caring’s Ivy Collection and comes with similar pros and cons. It’s “lively and buzzy”, and a handy location makes it “a fun place to meet friends”, but it takes flak for “slow and unprofessional” service and food that’s “the usual brasserie fare, but doesn’t feel like it’s cooked with love” and “isn’t worth the price”.
Summary
“A superb, airy restaurant – comfortable and relaxed” – is the general view on this three-year-old from Richard Caring’s Ivy Collection group, which occupies “a beautiful setting” in revamped King’s Cross. There is a more downbeat alternative, though, suggesting it’s “rather trading on its name” with its “functional” menu of “bistro favourites”.
Summary
“Very flashy decor” – and (it is claimed) ‘the largest al fresco dining terrace in north London’ – help entice diners to this “busy and buzzy” King’s Cross yearling from Richard Caring’s Ivy Collection, and sharing all the ‘affordable glam’ design ethos of the group. Everyone finds it an agreeably “lively place” but beyond that views are sharply divided: and whereas fans report “good quality brasserie food at all times of day”, critics dismiss “ordinary” food and “uninterested service” that’s “not up to their pretentions” or the “ambitious prices”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Granary Square Brasserie Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Part of The Ivy brasserie empire. Very convenient location in Kings Cross and always busy ambience. Service can be a bit slow, especially with taking dessert or coffee orders and bringing the bill. Needs more senior management attention. Food of high quality and overall great value for money."
