Harden's survey result
Summary
“One of the reasons we’ve yet to move house from Crouch End!” – local fans are sold on the virtues of this “stubbornly traditional Turkish restaurant (with murals on every wall depicting famous Turkish and other global tourist destinations… at least a step up from the glitzy establishments on Green Lane)”. “Despite recent price hikes, they are still very fair considering the high standard of cooking, as well as the warm welcome”.
Summary
“A favourite Turkish spot” – this well-run Crouch End local offers a “reliably delicious range of vegetarian, meat and fish dishes”, and “treats regulars as old friends, eating at a ‘home from home’”. It’s “not as cheap as the majority of Turkish/Kurdish restaurants in nearby Green Lanes, but the standard is higher and well worth the extra pound or two”.
Summary
“Far superior to the vast majority of Turkish/Kurdish eateries on the nearby Haringey Green Lanes” – this “really reliable neighbourhood spot” sits “on the border of Crouch End and Hornsey” and keeps its devoted regulars happy with “generous portions of tasty food”. It’s “not the cheapest, but the cooking is right up there”.
Summary
“Continuing its reign as the best Turkish restaurant in Crouch End, Hornsey and Harringay, beating all opposition in nearby Green Lanes”: the “fantastic food” comes with “unlimited, sumac-spiced breads and delicious salads”. It “even looks a bit more stylish” since the installation of wall hangings and better lighting.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Sumak Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Excellent lamb ribs and chargrilled bread."
"A very pleasant meal with very friendly and efficient staff. We ate only starters without ordering any mains, which is our habit in all Turkish restaurants. There were one or two exceptional dishes such as the chicken livers but one or two that we will know to steer clear of when we return as we certainly will."
