Harden's says
The food at this Temple Fortune cafe is all made in-house by two Israeli brothers.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“Outstanding delicious falafels” – “some of the best in London” – are the star turn at this Jewish-Moroccan veggie spot in Temple Fortune. “Don’t be put off by the strip lighting aesthetic, although there’s possibly better ambience in the street outside”. In the last couple of years the three Sabbo brothers have opened follow-ups in High Barnet (selling meat) and Clerkenwell’s Leather Lane (and also in Lakewood, New Jersey!)
Summary
“Reliably good falafels and hummus” top the bill at this kosher joint in Temple Fortune. The interior is “stark and fluorescent-lit, with an excess of Formica – but the falafels are worth it”. Top Tip: “go for the wraps over the pitta”.
Summary
“Israeli street food with attitude” – in particular the “lovely falafels” – win nothing but praise for this top “cheap ’n’ cheerful” kosher bar in Temple Fortune (where most surfaces are wipe clean). It’s no criticism of the place to say that Giles Coren awarding it 9/10 this year may have been over-egging the shakshuka a little.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
