“Consistently wonderful food and service” ensure that a loyal Hampstead crowd keeps coming back to this 55-year-old curry house, now run by the founder’s son. It’s “full of staff from the local hospital”, who clearly know a good thing when they see it.

This “wonderful and consistent Indian” has served generations of Hampstead locals for more than 50 years. Now run by the founder’s son, its USP is the “very attentive service”“we get a marvellous warm welcome each and every time”. The food is “reliably tasty”, too. Top Tips – “the lamb Ceylon and tarka dhal are to die for”.

“A Hampstead gem”, this traditional, family-run curry house, est. 1969, serves “great, freshly cooked and well-spiced food” – and “the owner and his staff really put themselves out”. “We’ve been going for over 40 years, and always look forward to the most charming hospitality from this neighbourhood favourite”.

“Lovely neighbourhood Indian” near Hampstead Heath that’s deservedly popular for its “tasty food from an interesting menu” and “reasonable prices”. Now run by the second generation of the founder’s family, who provide “exceptionally friendly service”, its only drawback is that it “can be difficult to get a table”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
