“Inventive and delicious Italian cooking in a cheerful trattoria” is the straightforward but engaging offer at Bash Redford and Michael Lavery’s Camberwell newcomer, relocated from its former well-known Peckham location in late 2022. Top Menu Tips – “the homemade focaccia is the best, either plain or with a dipping sauce such as nduja, wild garlic pesto or crab and lemon; the antipasti are so varied and good and – if you have room – the signature dessert, custardo, is terrific”.

Summary

Having stormed Peckham, then closed during lockdown, Bash Redford and Michael Lavery have chosen Camberwell for the latest iteration of their Italian brand. The formula has become increasingly ‘grown up’ since it started in 2012 as a pop-up pizzeria in the Truman Brewery: its new guise will be that of a traditional Italian restaurant with primo, secundi, dolce, etc.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
