This “upmarket” and “traditional” pub tucked away on the edge of Chelsea near Stamford Bridge is owned by singer James Blunt and his wife Sofia, and mimics a country local with a “cosy bar area and a lovely conservatory”. The “delicious food” is at its best for Sunday lunch, when it’s “the perfect place for a pint of beer and some roast pork”.

A “charming ‘country-pub-style’ local, cutely hidden away in west Chelsea” in ‘The Billings’ close to Stamford Bridge; and which nowadays is “celeb-owned” (by singer James Blunt and his wife Sofia). “The food has always been of great quality and the fact that you can relax in the pub bit afterwards makes for a lovely lazy afternoon and evening”.

A “superb atrium out the back”, with a glass roof that opens completely, gives this self-styled ‘country pub’ in a cute corner of Chelsea (est. 1846) an edge over rivals. It’s generally well-rated, but perhaps at its best for Sunday lunch.

“A beautiful light and airy dining room with fully opening glass roof for alfresco style dining, plus a more traditional boozer at the front with darts board” help make this ‘little country pub tucked away in a corner of Chelsea’ a “gem of a find”. But it doesn’t just look good – its superior menu is extremely well-realised and excellent value.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
