Harden's says

Seasonal plates to share and low-intervention wines – including an example made from the ploussard grape in the French Jura – are on the menu at this 35-cover neighbourhood spot from Tommy Kempson and chef Matt Harris, who used to run the site as an offshoot of their Brixton-based Other Side Fried chicken burger outfit.

“Every neighbourhood should have its Ploussard!” – a “cosy” little local that, over its first year, has proved a “more-than-welcome addition to Battersea Rise”. Chef Matt Harris and Tommy Kempson of Brixton’s Other Side Fried provide “vigorously flavoured” modern French “tapas-style dishes”, backed up by a short selection of low-intervention wines.

“A more-than-welcome addition to Battersea Rise, with a Continental-style vibe” that opened in April 2023 (a revamp of the “small”, 35-cover site that Tommy Kempson and chef Matt Harris used to run the as a branch of their Brixton-based ‘Other Side Fried’). The eclectic menu is short but interesting, and accompanied by a selection of low-intervention vintages. “Grab a seat by the window to watch the world go by whilst enjoying delicious plates of food” – crumpet with lamb and anchovy is a prime example – plus a small-but-good wine list.

For 34 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Good, interesting modern French tapas-style dishes served by friendly and enthusiastic waiters, but in a rather dull and cheap-feeling setting."

"Cozy local restaurant offering lovely food off a shortish menu. Deservedly popular. "
