Harden's says
Opened during Lockdown #3 in Balham, this Cantonese operation comes from an Alan Yau protege, Chi San. Operating initially as takeaway only, it hopes to open as a sit-in restaurant once lockdown restrictions are eased: 2th April for their terrace, 17th May for indoor dining. The menu is focused on Chinese classics, free from flavour enhancers or additives. Also, low intervention and organic wines.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“Top-class Chinese food, served in canteen-style surroundings” has arrived in Balham with the pandemic-delayed opening of this first solo project from Chi San, former right-hand man to Alan Yau of Yauatcha and Hakkasan fame. The relatively short menu is filled with standard dishes from the Cantonese culinary canon, modernised through the use of high-quality produce, and there’s an interesting selection of beers, wines and teas.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
