“Always busy local favourite” facing onto Wandsworth Common. It serves “competent modern British food” but what particularly helps keep its regulars coming back is a “keenly priced wine list” from owner John Brinkley, who has a string of wine-focused venues in southwest London.

This “smart neighbourhood restaurant” is a popular spot for evening rendez-vous or Sunday lunches overlooking Wandsworth Common (a few doors from local star Chez Bruce). “The food is good eclectic modern bistro fare – but you don’t go for the food, you go for the feel-good atmosphere and the convenience”. It is an offshoot of John Brinkley’s Chelsea-based group, and his excellent wine selection is also a feature here.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Always too expensive food. Pleasant bit ferociously unremarkable. Wine list not the bargain of days gone by. "
