Breaking news

August 23, 2024:

No longer part of the foyer, the building it was originaly part of (‘Pantechnicon’) has now rebranded as 19 Motcomb Street. The café is now part of the adjacent ‘Halkin Arcade’.

Harden's says

On the ground floor of this new Japanese-Nordic food and retail emporium, in a Grade II listed property, is the UK's first branch of Café Kitsuné (which means 'fox' in Japanese), serving breakfast and lunch, with Japanese inspired pastries and lunch dishes. A Japanese accent to the pastries adds exoticism (and expense?) to a trip to this swish perch, in the beating bougie heart of Belgravia. It originally opened in the foyer of the stunning-looking Pantechnicon building next door, which – in summer 2024 – rebranded as ‘19 Motcomb Street’ – leading (we understand from the press) to a relocation of the café to the ‘Halkin Arcade’.

“With the pâtisserie, the Japanese and Parisian influences are combined in such a wonderful way… and the coffee is sooo good”, according to fans of this mezzanine and foyer café, within a beautiful Belgravia landmark. But, perhaps predictably considering the frou-frou nature of this luxe locale, it can also seem plain “overpriced”.

For a posh cup of coffee, the chichi, Japanese-inflected patisserie at the foot of this monumental Belgravia landmark (with mezzanine and foyer seating) has a number of fans – grab a brew, take the weight of your feet and nibble on a double-baked matcha croissant or lunchtime sando.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
