“Good food, leaning towards the hearty end of the spectrum rather than the refined”, is enjoyed by most reporters at this ‘Abbeville village’ bistro from star Clapham chef Adam Byatt. If there’s a grumble, it is that it can seem “disappointing given its link to Trinity”, his flagship across the Common.

“Great to have in the locale” – Adam Byatt provides a “friendly neighbourhood spot” at this “good ‘Abbeville village’ location” with “lovely food, very nice service and a good atmosphere”. It’s not of the calibre of his main HQ though – “it’s Trinity’s little sister, but it’s not clear that’s reflected in the cooking”.

“A lovely little restaurant to have on one’s doorstep”, this ‘Abbeville Village’ outpost of Adam Byatt’s Trinity – up the road in Clapham Old Town – may lack its big sister’s star quality, “but the food never disappoints”.

Clapham-star Trinity’s younger sibling gains solid ratings for bringing affordable British bistro fare to the smart ‘Abbeville Village’ enclave. One or two diners “expect slightly better” from a patron of Adam Byatt’s calibre though – “adequate but didn’t quite hit the spot”.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"Food was good leaning towards the hearty end of the spectrum rather than refined. Friendly and slow service, which is no problem good for Sunday lunch. Unremarkable ambience. "
