An “interesting range of modern, high-quality Italian dishes” means this “buzzy” Clapham Old Town venue – inspired by chef-patron Robin Gill’s experience of working on the Amalfi coast – draws a more-than-local clientele. The Dairy, its influential older ‘sister’ around the corner, closed down in 2020. Top Menu Tips – “superb octopus arancini, fresh gnocchi and pappardelle ragu”.

“The neighbourhood Italian restaurant that you always wanted to have” is now chef Robin Gill’s Clapham flagship following the closure of near-neighbour Dairy (RIP). It’s “noisy and buzzy” in the proper Italian manner, and the cooking is “interesting and delicious”, with highlights including “arancini to die for”.

Robin Gill’s “excellent neighbourhood restaurant” – with “a delicious menu of top-quality Italian dishes” inspired by the Amalfi coast – is nowadays his only Clapham venue since the closure of the nearby Dairy (RIP). “The wonderful service and top-class food make this a local go-to.” Top Tip: “amazing arancini” (truffle or beef short rib and black garlic).

“A great local addition that’s worth travelling to”: Robin Gill’s small, neighbourhood three-year-old, near his Clapham HQ, The Dairy, takes its inspiration from the Amalfi coast, and its traditionally presented Italian dishes (cicchetti, antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci) are consistently “wonderful”; and it’s “good fun” too.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
