Harden's says

Two ex-Sticks'n'Sushi employees have opened this 'sushi and more' spot in Brixton; expect a "rebellious twist" to the classics.

This “really impressive” two-year-old from Aidan Bryan & Tom Blackshaw in Brixton’s former Bon Marché department store is a “catch-all Japanese restaurant delivering high-quality, tasty dishes” that are “quirky, in a good way”: “while not the most authentic sushi for the purists” – the clue is in the name – “it’s definitely worth a visit”.

Local reporters are full of praise for this Brixton newbie from Aidan Bryan and Tom Blackshaw, which has a perch in the swanky conversion of the old Bon Marché department store (now the HQ of Squire & Partners architectural practice). It doesn’t generate huge amounts of feedback, but fans say “the menu’s varied and the sushi’s as good as it gets”.

Aidan Bryan and Tom Blackshaw (who worked together at Sticks ’n’ Sushi) have taken a unit in the poshly converted ex-department store complex that’s nowadays HQ to Squire & Partners (architects on many of London’s super-luxe landmark projects, like Chelsea Barracks). Here, you are invited to, er, ‘rebel against the establishment’ – apparently that means ordering some of their non-traditional sushi options. No survey feedback as yet, but good word-on-the-street vibes.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
