This “authentic Italian vermuteria” (they make their own vermouths) in the heart of Soho was founded 12 years ago by three brothers from northern Italy, and offers enjoyable cooking from their homeland, including “a great choice of pasta” and “the crispiest pizza ever – delicious!”

“Simple Italian dishes”, with everything freshly made in the kitchen, are on the menu at this ten-year-old independent in Soho, whose standout culinary feature is the range of house-made vermouths in the bar. Praise is pretty muted, though – and “the room really lacks something despite good service”.

This Italian indie in Soho is entering its tenth year, and hides a large basement bar (boasting a wide range of vermouths) behind a small exterior. Feedback was a bit up-and-down this year – some former fans found blips in service and a poor ambience, while others continue to laud its “very good” Italian food and say a visit is “always fun”.

“What a great find in Soho!”“this quirky and funky place offers a nice twist on traditional Italian dishes”, and is “so much better than the chains”. “Looks tiny from the outside but has this ginormous expanse at basement level”, which “can be noisy”. “It’s not cheap but nor is it outrageously expensive for the area and quality”. There’s also an on-site aperitivo bar featuring home-made vermouth.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

"We were seated upstairs, away from the livelier part of the restaurant which is in the basement. Food was fine."
