“Chaotic” and “a bit mad”, but “actually brilliant” – JKS Restaurants’s genius if gaudy Chinatown two-year-old is inspired by Bangkok sports bars and hits the spot with a vibrant menu of “really good-value” morsels plus funky cocktails that go down a treat. It’s like being in Bangkok… it “just needs to be about 20 degrees warmer outside!”

“They rock a vibrant, kitsch, Thai-sports-bar style beautifully” at JKS Restaurants’s zany and “buzzy” Chinatown yearling, which is “very casual” and “great fun”. “Full-flavoured dishes are authentically and unashamedly packed with the core Thai flavours of sweet, sour, fire and salt” – it’s “fantastic, authentic, good-value” food, washed down with funky cocktails and a wide variety of other libations (you can just drink here).

Summary

Named to be reminiscent of the canals of Bangkok’s Chinatown, JKS Restaurants and chef Luke Farrell launch their second Thai concept together (the first was at the Arcade Food Hall) in September 2022 in Soho, to offer curries plus ‘fast and furious wok cookery with roasted meats and zingy seafood salads’, using UK-grown Thai herbs from Farrell’s Forest nursery.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
