Harden's says
Angelina founders, Joshua Owens-Baigler and Amar Takhar, have overhauled the Soho bar they launched as Golden Gai last year, and reopened it as this 'kushikatsu' restaurant. Kushikatsu come from Osaka in Japan, and are deep-fried skewers coated in Panko crumbs: here served omakase style. Hokkaido milkbread and soft shell crab is something of a signature dish.
Harden's survey result
Summary
Angelina founders, Joshua Owens-Baigler and Amar Takhar, have overhauled the Soho bar they launched as Golden Gai last year, and reopened it in November 2021 as this ‘kushikatsu’ (deep-fried skewers coated in Panko crumbs) specialist, here served omakase style. Despite full-on raves from many press critics, including The Guardian’s Grace Dent (“delightfully odd”, but with “some of the most fantastic cooking in London”), it inspired curiously little feedback in our annual diners’ poll – more reports please!
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
