Harden's says
Gordon Ramsay replaced his flagship Maze with this restaurant in the summer of 2019 to emulate “the drinking dens of Thirties Tokyo and the Far East”.
Harden's survey result
Summary
Gordon Ramsay’s pan-Asian brand is now a group, with the Mayfair original followed by branches in Manchester and (scheduled for an early 2025 opening) on the 22nd storey of the City’s tallest tower, 22 Bishopsgate. Habitual poor ratings have risen a notch this year, amid praise for “a great atmosphere, with service and food to match” – so perhaps standards have risen. But even broadly positive reporters point out that “the food is underwhelming for the price” – “the problem is that there are better Asian-inspired restaurants in central London at better prices”.
Summary
The “buzzing vibe”, DJs and “showmanship of dishes being completed at the table” tends to “overshadow the food and service” at Gordon Ramsay’s “Pan-Asian” joint on the former site of Maze in Mayfair. The “play-safe, please-all Asian menu” runs the gamut from sushi and bao to Korean-spiced black cod and Thai green curry stone bass – “but it lacks real flavour”. “If it’s trying to compete with the likes of Roka and Nobu, it doesn’t… apart from on prices”.
Summary
This “loud” Gordon Ramsay-backed venue in Mayfair (on the former site of Maze, long RIP) aims to channel the glam 1930s drinking dens of the Far East and serves a hodgepodge of dishes: from sushi to steak; from salads to seafood. Dreary ratings overall support those who say there are “so many better places to get much better pan-Asian fare”… so it’s just the time to start a roll-out then! with its first, much simpler spin-off – The Lucky Cat Noodle & Bar – taking over a Shoreditch site previously dedicated to chicken and waffles.
Summary
On the site that was Maze (RIP), the f-word chef launched this Mayfair pan-Asian fixture in summer 2019 with the aim of emulating ‘the drinking dens of Thirties Tokyo and the Far East’… only to unleash a social media storm about cultural appropriation. Our initial diner reports are quite mixed, and skewed to the negative: “basically anything by Gordon Ramsey is overpriced and only funds his narcissism”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Lucky Cat Restaurant Diner Reviews
"We ate at chefs table and it was an underwhelming experience. The food ranged from average to poor. The wine pairings were tasty enough, and eggcup portions. It was difficult to hear the descriptions of the food. The experience was more akin to McDonalds calling out an order rather than chefs table. "
