Harden's says

Originally due to open in late 2022 - and finally launched on Valentine's Day 2023 - a collaboration between Claude Bosi and Samyukta Nair that "pays homage to the coastal towns of Cannes, Marseille and Nice, with an emphasis on French-Mediterranean style dishes and wines".

This gracious and “well-spaced” two-year-old in the epicentre of posh Mayfair is a tribute to the cuisine of Provence and owes its existence to an unlikely partnership of prolific restaurateur Samyukta Nair (Jamavar, Koyn, MiMi Mei Fair) and star Lyonnais-born chef, Claude Bosi (Bibendum, Brooklands, Josephine). A fan would say the menu of modern French dishes is appealingly simple and luxurious – sceptics say it’s “somewhat underwhelming, maybe due to silly pricing”. Top Tip – “don’t get put in the back room”.

“Deliciously light and fluffy food” inspired by the sunshine cuisine of the south of France lights up the menu at this Mayfair yearling – a collaboration between Lyonnais-born chef Claude Bosi of Bibendum and restaurateur-du-moment Samyukta Nair (it’s named after the chickpea flour flatbread made in Nice). Sadly, they have brought with them “plain ludicrous” Riviera-style pricing, which sours the tone of otherwise positive reports. (The Observer’s March 2023 review from Jay Rayner was not-dissimilar: “I wanted that utter fabulousness to mitigate the price. But it was strange and uneven rather than the perfect it should be”.)

Summary

Set to open in the second half of 2022, on a Mayfair site that was formerly a branch of Richoux – this collaboration between Claude Bosi and Samyukta Nair will ‘pay homage to the coastal towns of Cannes, Marseille and Nice, with an emphasis on French-Italian style dishes and wines’. It will all be more homespun than Bosi’s Bibendum, apparently, with rustic options like rabbit with garlic cited as typical of the fairly traditional fare.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
