Harden's says
The Mandrake Hotel has closed Serge et Le Phoque: in its place comes Yopo, hailed as "modern European with a South American accent".
Harden's survey result
Summary
Impress your friends on Instagram with enviable scenes from the lush outside terraces at this very good-looking boutique hotel in Fitzrovia. Not as many reports as we’d like on its interesting restaurant – where the cuisine comes with a South American accent – hence, for this year, we’ve left it unrated.
Summary
With its lush and somewhat ‘out-there’ styling, Fitzrovia’s Mandrake Hotel makes an attractive destination for a meal, but recently closed its former restaurant Serge et Le Phoque (RIP). In its place came this spring 2019 yearling, hailed as ‘modern European with a South American accent’ (and named for a powerful hallucinogen). One early report – in keeping with upbeat press reviews from the likes of The Telegraph’s William Sitwell – suggests it’s well worth a trip.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
