“Experimental vegan food” will justify the trip for plant-eaters to star chef Alexis Gauthier’s year-old venture – a spin-off from his famous Soho restaurant which forms part of the British Film Institute Building off Tottenham Court Road. While The Telegraph’s William Sitwell was not impressed in his October 2023 review (a “weird glimpse into the future of PC dishes mimicking those old shameful dinosaurs”) our reports were uniformly upbeat, although one reporter didn’t like the set-up (feeling “ambience is a bit lacking, as it is obviously a very casual café by day and then trying to be a fancier restaurant by night, and just ends up feeling a bit confused”).
