Harden's survey result
Summary
“Somewhat weird interiors” packed with chandeliers, stuffed animals and other antique-shop paraphernalia mean it’s easy to be “transfixed by the decor” at these four neighbourhood cafés in Hammersmith (which added a new branch near Ravenscourt Park this year). The decor boosts what’s essentially a cheap ’n’ cheerful Thai caff experience: “a lot of the food is deep-fried but always fresh” and it’s “staggeringly good value… and it’s BYO!”
Summary
“Good home-cooked Thai food” at “bargain” prices keeps guests coming back to this trio of Hammersmith neighbourhood cafés, distinctively crammed full of retro bric-a-brac. They serve English breakfasts and afternoon teas by day.
Summary
“Good-value local Thai restaurants in Hammersmith that do reliable take-away too”. BYO adds to the value of a trip, with the best branch – rammed with stuffed animals, foliage and bric-a-brac – on the site that was for yonks, The Brackenbury (long RIP), complete with cute outside terrace in summer.
Summary
“Eclectic decor” (foliage, stuffed animals, antiques…) – “so quirky, I always love it!” – adds va-va-voom to these “cheap ’n’ cheerful” Thai cafés in W6. They make a great choice for a budget get-together, as “BYOB means a trip is excellent value”.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
