Harden's survey result
Summary
“Good home-cooked Thai food” at “bargain” prices keeps guests coming back to this trio of Hammersmith neighbourhood cafés, distinctively crammed full of retro bric-a-brac. They serve English breakfasts and afternoon teas by day.
Summary
“Good-value local Thai restaurants in Hammersmith that do reliable take-away too”. BYO adds to the value of a trip, with the best branch – rammed with stuffed animals, foliage and bric-a-brac – on the site that was for yonks, The Brackenbury (long RIP), complete with cute outside terrace in summer.
Summary
“Eclectic decor” (foliage, stuffed animals, antiques…) – “so quirky, I always love it!” – adds va-va-voom to these “cheap ’n’ cheerful” Thai cafés in W6. They make a great choice for a budget get-together, as “BYOB means a trip is excellent value”.
Summary
“A really quirky taste in decor” is working out well for this little group of Thai cafés in W6. From its tiny first branch (Poppy’s I) on a traficky bit of Hammersmith’s one-way system, it’s progressed via a branch off the Fulham Palace Road (Poppy’s II) to occupy the well-known former site of The Brackenbury, RIP (Poppy’s III). Nowadays, the latter is hidden behind a terrace of foliage and packed with stuffed animals, mirrors and chandeliers. Notwithstanding a rather functional level of service, its low prices for tasty scoff and BYO policy are packing ’em in.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
