Harden's says

The chef behind Xi'an Impression (and its spin-off Biang Biang Noodles), Wei Guirong, has opened her first solo restaurant; the Chinese Shaanxi dishes and noodles will no doubt be much in demand.

“Hand-made and pulled noodles are the stars of the show” at this “authentic” canteen in a side-street near Russell Square, offering “fantastic Xi’an cooking” from chef-proprietor Wei Guirong. It attracts an “odd but pleasing mix of mainland Chinese businessmen & students, with tourists and the odd culinary adventurer” – and is much easier for most to visit than its sibling, Xi’an Impression near Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

“Excellent Xi’an hand-pulled noodles” (“pasta-like noodles with chillies to make your eyes water”) “at reasonable prices” ensure that chef-proprietor Wei Guirong’s central London canteen, “tucked away in a narrow pedestrian street near Russell Square”, is always “buzzing”. It is a sibling to Xi’an Impression near Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

“Exceptional, hand-pulled biang biang noodles” are the star turn at this “no-frills diner” near Russell Square, where an “unprepossessing” exterior gains access to a menu of “subtle, interesting and authentic regional Xi’an cuisine”. “The prices are very reasonable for the West End.” Proprietor Wei Guirong also runs Xi’an Impression near Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.

Down a sidestreet near Russell Square – “a new place opened by the chef of Arsenal’s Xi’an Impression, Wei Guirong, which is slightly more spacious, but where the menu is almost the same”. “It’s a simple setting, with the most amazing Shaanxi food”: “great hand-cut noodles” are the headline option.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
