Harden's says
Formerly chef at Cliveden, André Garrett moved to The Corinthia in January 2019, to oversee all of the food at the hotel (except Kerridge's Bar & Grill), from The Northall to room service.
Harden's survey result
Summary
“Incredible flower displays” add to the airy and gracious style of this comfortable dining room, within the plush five star near Embankment station. Partly because of the fame of Kerridge’s next door, it has struggled over the years to raise its profile, but can be a handy option for a stately, high-quality West End setting. Top Top – in particular, “the set lunch is excellent value”.
Summary
Despite its gracious, high-ceilinged interior, this luxury five-star’s comfortable dining room – with its own dedicated entrance, near the Embankment – is sometimes overlooked by reporters. Those who make the trip, however, say the cuisine (overseen by executive chef, André Garrett) is “good value” (especially the set option) and that, in particular, it’s “a great lunch location”.
Summary
“Fine if you’re staying in the hotel, but not a destination restaurant”, is a common verdict on this “elegant” chamber, which is currently most often tipped by non-residents as a “perfect business lunch venue”: “comfortable, with good food, and you’re always well looked-after”. It’s an impression the management of this beautiful five-star hotel, near the Embankment, is keen to change, however, and the arrival of André Garrett at the stoves from Cliveden in late-2018 was a statement of intent to zhoosh things up, as they have done with Kerridge’s (see also). Since André’s arrival its food rating is, in fact, little-changed (good but unmemorable), but perhaps that’s all about to change: in a June 2019 interview with trade website ‘Big Hospitality’, he promises ‘something big’ including a name change, refurb, and a new dedicated restaurant entrance.
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
