Harden's says

The top floor of revamped Covent Garden townhouse 3 Henrietta Street became home to Mark Greenaway's long-awaited London fine-dining project in October 2021 (he opened a pie shop in Villiers Street in 2021). The name refers to the menu which will pivot with the seasons - rather than any reference to that Friends scene with the sofa - and will be "a menu of playful yet refined takes on classic dishes inspired by his childhood".

Scottish chef Mark Greenaway’s two-year-old ‘British bistro’, set in the first-floor drawing room of an elegant Georgian townhouse overlooking Covent Garden piazza, flies somewhere under the radar given its grand address. (The name apparently refers to the way the menu ‘pivots’ with the changing seasons). Its pre-theatre options are useful for the area, while Sunday lunch is also favourably mentioned.

“Tucked away on the first floor of a Covent Garden townhouse”, this late-2021 newcomer from top Scottish chef, Mark Greenaway, is “a great little venue” with a “beautiful setting overlooking Covent Garden piazza”. “Pick the chef’s counter and you’ll be served by Mark himself: an engaging chef, but even if you can’t sit at the counter, the restaurant seating has good views”. The menu (including breakfast and a pre-theatre option) is versatile and “both delivers on taste and offers good value for the location”. Top Menu Tip – beef and bone marrow pie.

Summary

Opening in September 2021, on the first floor of a new Covent Garden restaurant development (see also El Ta’koy), this new venture is named for its monthly changing menu from accoladed Scottish chef Mark Greenaway. From the website, we are told to expect spectacular views of the piazza, an open kitchen, and a choice of four- or eight-course menus.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
