Part of the 'super boutique' hotel that opened in September 2021, a rooftop izakaya with fire pits.

Summary

A “fascinating interior” – with moody design; great rooftop views over London from some tables; and an adjacent Shima Garden that’s open to the sky – adds to the lure of this eighth-floor izakaya, at the top of one of London’s more recent five-star arrivals on Leicester Square. It’s yet to make waves as a foodie hotspot, although the ambition is there with a minimum spend for bookings at £100 per person; and sakés and wines running to £10,000 per bottle. Such feedback as we have is too limited for a rating but mostly upbeat, particularly about the venue.

For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).
