For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Orestone Manor Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Situated on a cliff high above Babbacombe Bay with an enticing glimpse of the sea below, Orestone Manor aims to be figuratively, as well as literally, above other Babbacombe establishments. Certainly, in decor, it is. It is style like a fine country house out of a TV period drama. The lounge is an upscale comfy room (too large to be called a den) for pre-dinner drinks, where we had a round of G&Ts from Salcombe Gin, Fever Tree Indian, and generous slices of orange that were peerless among any I can remember. The dining room is popular, in which case you may be put in a 'spillover' rom but this is no great inconvenience and, in our case (a baby in a high chair accompanied by 5 screaming adults) did not lead to any diminution of service. The menu is 2-courses GBP 41/ 3-courses GBP 48, plus à la carte items identified by the size of the supplement they represent on the prix-fixe price. I like this system There were no lowlights among the menu items we tried. Highlights: Halibut, Game Pie in Whiskey (not sure we could taste the 'e' in this liquor - but that is not a bad thing), crab,. venison, and braised beef cheek. Wines are fully-priced, but offer a reasonable range of choice. Some of the selections (e.g. the Domaine Gérard Millet, Sancerre and the Muscat de Beaumes De Venise 'Cuvée Les Trois Fonts', Domaine Coyeux) could do with replacement with better examples. . Service is attentive and friendly. Orestone pips The Waddling Duck (at number two) and Cary Arms (at number three) for top place in a town that has more decent eating places than you would expect (where entrance requirements are an age statement of 60 and a westie), or to be so unknown to outsiders. Recommended. "
