Harden's survey result
Summary
“An excellent take on Indian cuisine with a blend of classic dishes and spiced modern British versions” – Atul Kochhar’s “interesting” cuisine at this four-year-old venture is inspired by the cuisines of Punjab and Rajasthan. Some fans still suggest it “just edges Sindhu, its nearby sister in Marlow” but its ratings were undercut this year by a couple of mixed reports.
Summary
“The best Anglo-Indian food tasted this year!” is a typical view of this three-year-old venture from high-profile chef Atul Kochhar, which just might be the best of his half-dozen restaurants (which include Sindhu at the Compleat Angler, also in Marlow). Inspired by the cuisines of the Punjab and Rajasthan, it has a “lovely tasting menu” as well as shorter set and à la carte options, and serves some “interesting and very pleasant Indian wines”.
Summary
This two-year-old from prolific celeb-chef-restaurateur Atul Kocchar (who runs Sindhu at The Compleat Angler and Hawkyns in Amersham) is thought by some reporters to be his best in the area, with a “stunning tasting menu” that “gets the quantities just right”. Top Menu Tip – “perfect venison”.
Summary
On the site of Villa d’Este (RIP), well-known Indian chef Atul Kocchar (who runs the nearby Sindu at the Compleat Angler) opened this 80-seater site in July 2020. The focus is on “amazing” north Indian cooking from Punjab and Rajasthan, including a “tasting menu that takes you on a journey beyond the standard Indian” (£69, and coming in vegan and vegetarian versions).
For 33 years we've been curating reviews of the UK's most notable restaurant. In a typical year, diners submit over 50,000 reviews to create the most authoritative restaurant guide in the UK. Each year, the guide is re-written from scratch based on this survey (although for the 2021 edition, reviews are little changed from 2020 as no survey could run for that year).

Vaasu by Atul Kochhar Restaurant Diner Reviews
"Disappointing. Wine poured different year to that listed: some dishes not available but only when ordered was that made clear: unable to cope with allergy request as cooking utensils ‘shared’: coats taken on entry but left to find them ourselves when leaving: takeaway motorcyclist in sight through whole of meal: service surly and uninformative with questions re food left unanswered. Cooking was ok but so are many local Indian establishments at half the price here. A revisit is highly unlikely."
